As the owner of a rescue dog who can suffer from anxiety at times, I've tried all sort of things to help Max with his confidence over the past year. I've been testing the Hush Muff for the past few months with him and to say I'm impressed would be an understatement!
So, What Is A Hush Muff?
The Hush Muff is an original product designed to help soothe nervous and anxious dogs.
On the surface, you could be forgiven for thinking it looks pretty unremarkable. A plan, cosy fleece snood maybe? But like all the best products, the devil is in the detail - and the proven results.
The Hush Muff has been designed and developed right here in Scotland by business owner Rachel. With a background in dog training and behaviour, Rachel designed this product to help her sighthound, Errol, with his sensitivity to noise when traditional training methods were not doing the trick.
The result - years of research, independent acoustic testing and countless samples and case studies later - and Rachel has brought her patented Hush Muff to the market.
How Does The Hush Muff Work?
The Hush Muff works by reducing the effect of external noise and vibration on the dog. It also applies light, even pressure around the dog's head and lower jaw, creating a comforting hold and reducing vibrations.
The Hush Muff was developed by Soothe and Settle in collaboration with an independent sound engineer and has proven in testing to reduce noise by up to a half.
In human terms, it's like pairing ear defenders with a weighted blanket or compression vest.
How can the Hush Muff Help My Dog?
Personally, I have found the Hush Muff incredibly effective to help my rescue dog, Max to cope with situations he finds stressful. Mainly grooming with clippers and wind noise.
Max is generally a happy and confident guy and isn't bothered by fireworks or travelling - but he does get really quite stressed when we have high winds. The difference this product has made to him has been incredible. I have absolute faith in how effective it is.

Max loves his so much now that he just falls asleep after wearing it for a few minutes. He slept through Storm Amy and even woke up late for his breakfast!
